When to tip more
- A big change or a long service. Going from long hair to a fade, a design, or a haircut plus beard work takes more time and skill.
- You were squeezed in last minute or kept past closing.
- The holidays. Many regulars give the barber they see all year the price of one extra cut.
- A tough kids' cut. A patient barber with a wiggly four-year-old has earned a little extra.
Is it OK to tip less?
Tipping isn't required, and it should reflect the service. If something wasn't right, the better move is to say so before you leave. A good barber would much rather fix a cut than lose a client.
