Pontiac doesn't have a Detroit Barbers location, but a lot of Pontiac residents already make the short drive north to our Rochester Hills shop on Adams Rd, especially those living on the east side near Auburn Rd or Squirrel Rd.

The route depends on where you start. From downtown Pontiac, Opdyke Rd or Woodward Ave north gets you to Auburn Rd, and from there it's east to Squirrel Rd, north to Walton Blvd, and a short stretch to Adams Rd and the Adams Square plaza. Budget about 15 minutes, a bit less if you're already on the east side near the M1 Concourse.

We get regulars connected to the M1 Concourse and the businesses that have grown up around that stretch, along with families from Pontiac neighborhoods near the Ultimate Soccer Arenas area who make the drive on weekends. Fades and line-ups are the most requested cuts, kept tight enough to look sharp for two to three weeks.

The hot-towel straight-razor shave is worth the extra 20 minutes if you've never had one. We heat the towel, prep the skin properly, and take our time instead of rushing through it, which is the difference between a real shave and a fast one.

If you're coming from downtown Pontiac near the Phoenix Center or the historic district, plan on the full 15 minutes since you'll cross through part of Auburn Hills to get here. Pontiac has a long history as an auto manufacturing town, and neighborhoods like the area around Baldwin Ave and the old Pontiac Silverdome site still carry that identity even as the city has changed. Oakland University's downtown Pontiac satellite programs and Oakland Community College's Auburn Hills campus both draw students who live in Pontiac, and a number of them make the trip north for a haircut before class or an interview. Families near Wisner Stadium and the neighborhoods close to Baldwin Ave often plan the drive around a Saturday morning, getting in early before the shop fills up with Rochester Hills locals doing weekend errands. We also see clients connected to the medical offices and clinics along Woodward Ave in Pontiac who stop by after a shift, since the drive north stays quiet outside of rush hour.
