Oakland Township is mostly open land, horse farms, and the Paint Creek Trail, which means there is no barbershop tucked into a strip mall a mile from your house. Your closest Detroit Barbers shop is on Adams Rd in Rochester Hills, and the drive down is easier than it sounds since Adams Rd runs almost the whole way.

From the Silverbell Rd or Dutton Rd side of the township, you head south on Adams Rd, pass through the edge of Rochester near Tienken Rd, and land at the Adams Square plaza where we have a free surface lot right at the door. Plan on 12 to 15 minutes depending on where you're starting from.

We get a fair number of regulars who spend their weekends out at Bald Mountain Recreation Area or riding the Paint Creek Trail and want a barber who can keep a beard shaped without fuss during the week. Beard trims here are shaped to your jawline, not a single guard length run across the whole face.

Families out in the township also make the trip for kids cuts, since there isn't a closer option that does a good job with younger kids who don't sit still. We keep the pace calm and the clippers predictable so first haircuts go smoothly.

If you're coming from farther north in the township near Goodison, add a few minutes to the drive time above. Either way, book ahead online for weekend slots since Saturday mornings fill first, or plan a weekday evening walk-in after 5 when things open back up.

The township itself has grown a good bit over the last decade with new subdivisions off Silverbell Rd and Buell Rd, and a lot of the newer residents did not grow up nearby, so they ask us for the fastest route the first time in. We also hear from parents whose kids attend Rochester Community Schools and who use the drive down Adams Rd as a combined trip, dropping off at school activities and grabbing a haircut in the same afternoon. The lack of anything closer is part of why so many township families end up as regulars rather than one-time visitors.
