A Day in the Life
- Open the station, prep tools, review the Square book for the day.
- Cut and style a mix of pre-booked regulars and walk-ins.
- Mix of clipper work, scissor work, beard trims, and finish styling.
- Rebook clients before they leave the chair.
- Recommend take-home product when it actually fits the cut.
- Close clean, log tips, head out on time.

Do you hire cosmetologists, or only licensed barbers?
Both. We hire licensed Michigan cosmetologists at most of our shops, especially those comfortable with clipper work and men's cutting.
Do I need to know fades?
Strong men's cutting fundamentals are required; fade experience is strongly preferred. If you're solid on scissor work and want to grow into clipper work, we'll cross-train.
Will I have to start over building a book?
No. Every Detroit Barbers shop has steady walk-in volume and Square online booking. Most new stylists fill their chair in the first few weeks.
Which locations hire cosmetologists?
